ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance. It examines how sustainable companies are. We were able to increase our score from 61 to 67 points, putting us in the top 12% (previous year: top 19%) of all companies! This is an outstanding result, especially for a medium-sized company like Grieshaber Feinmechanik.

We would like to thank our employees for their commitment and especially Ralf Zeller, whose dedication made the certification by Ecovadis possible. Of course, we will continue to work on improving our actions in terms of sustainability.

In order to achieve climate neutrality, the greenhouse gases caused by Christ & Heiri AG had to be calculated as a first step. The calculation was carried out according to the GHG principles and was based on the relevant greenhouse gases of the Kyoto Protocol.

All emission categories (Scope 1-3) were taken into account, i.e. in addition to the emissions caused directly in the company, indirect emissions such as materials and resources used, transport of goods, energy consumption, vehicle fleet, business trips, waste disposal and other emission sources were also included. This holistic view shows an honest and realistic picture of the carbon footprint of the entire company.

In the next step, together with the climate protection agency natureOffice, a suitable climate protection project was found in which Christ & Heiri AG offsets the corresponding CO2 emissions through the plantation reforestation of degraded areas in Uruguay.

Grieshaber Feinmechanik, which has been climate-neutral since 2022, has been able to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions from 400 tons to 280 tons since the last certification. These emissions were also offset by supporting the “Bujagali Hydropower Project”. The project involves the construction of a large hydroelectric power plant in Uganda at the Bujagali Falls of the White Nile.

After intensive work, the IATF 16949 certification has also been successfully completed at our site in Monterrey! This means that all Christ & Heiri Group locations in Switzerland, Germany and Mexico are now certified according to IATF 16949.

Special thanks go to our on-site quality manager, Benny Johne, who accompanied the audit with great commitment and the support of the entire team.

After the successful certification according to ISO 9001 in 2020, this is another important step in the Christ & Heiri Group’s pursuit of the highest quality and delivery reliability.

Since 2015, the Christ & Heiri Group has been present with a production facility in Monterrey, Mexico, from where it supplies local customers, primarily from the automotive sector. While the site in Mexico initially existed in cooperation and under the umbrella of a local partner, an independent company was founded in 2021 under the name CHRIST & HEIRI MEXICO S. de R.L. de C.V..

As part of this new foundation, the production area was also significantly expanded, which fortunately could be realised at the existing location. Our Team-Mexico is therefore optimally equipped for new projects!

At the first attempt, Grieshaber was able to achieve 61 points in the initial audit and thus belongs to the top 20% of the companies audited by EcoVadis. The result shows that Grieshaber is already doing very good work in the area of ESG (Environmental Social Governance) and lives up to a remarkable standard.

During the audit, the topics of environment, labour and human rights, ethics as well as sustainable procurement in the company were examined and evaluated in detail. The task now is to derive the right measures from the findings of the audit in order to become even better in the above-mentioned areas.

The Christ & Heiri Group thus belongs to the top 20% of industrial companies and has received good marks from its employees in 23 different categories such as fairness, promotion, leadership, justice, communication and image.

In addition to the «Great Place to Work» award, Grieshaber Feinmechanik celebrates the title «Top Company» in Kununu employee satisfaction! This is also a sign of the good cooperation between management and employees at the Löffingen site.

Now it is time for the management to look at the results in detail and continue to work on improving the various topics in order to make the group an even more attractive employer.

The Moorish-Spanish show between the courses with dancers, an acrobat and a juggler delighted the guests and was rounded off by the awarding of prizes to employees who had distinguished themselves through special achievements in the past year. The two managing directors Thomas Seeler (Grieshaber Feinmechanik) and Olivier Brunner (Christ & Heiri) looked back on another year of successful cooperation between the two companies and praised the good collaboration between the two locations.

Many of those present also took advantage of the meeting to get to know their Swiss and German colleagues personally, with whom they had previously only been in contact by e-mail or telephone. In this way, the joint celebration helped to move a little closer together again, in order to be able to provide the best for the group’s customers together in the future as well. After a successful and stylish Christmas party, all employees were driven home safely with the anticipation of a future joint celebration in their luggage!
